Honest
We say what is true.
We do not exaggerate a product, manufacture value for marketing, or make a claim stronger than the facts support.
Independent creative studio
Rethinking the process, not the purpose.
We create beautiful products that make everyday tasks feel more natural and enjoyable.
The studio
Everyday life is full of things that need to be organised, understood, cared for, remembered, made or done.
Cultivated Muse looks for ways to make the experience around those things better.
We keep the richness, detail and capability that produce a good result — while removing unnecessary friction from the way you get there.
Our first product is software. What comes next may take another form.
The medium can change. The standard does not.
02 — Our first product
A plant care and collection app for people who want to understand and manage their plants their own way.
Liana brings together the full story of each plant—what it is, where it lives, what you have observed, the care it has received and the plants propagated from it.
Over time, that history becomes rich context: yours to keep, export and share on your own terms, wherever you seek guidance. Liana supports your decisions without trying to make every one for you.
03 — How we work
The way a product works should follow the logic of the task.
We start with what is already familiar, then rethink the parts that interrupt the flow.
The finished product should feel intuitive not because it does less, but because the experience has been shaped carefully around what you are actually trying to do.
A better process should lead to a better result.
A capable product should solve more of the problem — reducing unnecessary steps, fuss and workarounds while improving the outcome it was made to achieve.
Where the task calls for flexibility, it should accommodate real life rather than expecting everything to fit one prescribed way of doing things.
Beauty is part of the function.
The things we use every day shape how those moments feel.
Materials, proportion, language, movement and visual clarity all matter.
We want useful things to be enjoyable to use — not decorated for the sake of looking designed, but made beautiful because the experience is better for it.
04 — What we believe
We say what is true.
We do not exaggerate a product, manufacture value for marketing, or make a claim stronger than the facts support.
People should understand what they’re choosing.
No hidden catches, manufactured pressure or manipulative design.
We collect only the usage data that helps us improve our products. We don’t identify you or see the personal information you put into them.
We build products to support your decisions, not prescribe them.
Where choice matters, we aim to give you room to do things your way.
05 — The studio
Cultivated Muse was founded by Shelley Duncan.
I’ve spent much of my working life noticing the parts of things that don’t quite work — then trying to make them better. In retail, business ownership and web development, that usually meant improving systems, simplifying processes or building something that wasn’t there yet.
Liana began the same way: I wanted a better way to manage my own plant collection, so I started making one.
06 — Say hello
We want to hear what works, what doesn’t, and what could work better.
If you have feedback on one of our products, an idea you think is worth exploring, or simply want to talk about something we’re making, we’d be glad to hear from you.
